Since 1999 Kendalwood Farm LLC has been engaged in a passion for the Dutch Harness Horses of the Netherlands. With amazing movement, temperament, and natural ability, the DHH makes a superb partner suitable for dressage and carriage driving. Because of their strength in conformation, these horses have unbelievable suspension and self-carriage. An impeccable work ethic and super sweet nature makes the DHH a natural show-off and a joy to work and compete, always giving 120 percent. With the help of Wiebe Dragstra of Dragstra Stables, Southern Pines, NC, we have had the pleasure of taking these horses as youngsters and molding them into National Champions. We've had great success - they are so eager to please.
Over the past few years, they have established many reliable friends and contacts in Holland, making it our home away from home. Their friends Maryanne
and Alberd Van Dyke have given PJ a wonderful opportunity in August 2003. While on a buying trip with them in The Netherlands PJ was surprised to find that Albert had arranged for Pj to drive and show an amazing horse in Drogeham. Here he became the first non-Dutch individual to be licenced to compete DHH's in Holland. This is a huge honor for PJ to be able to compete when he is there during their show season. He has since shown in 2007 with Albert and hopes to compete again in 2008.
The Dutch people are wonderfully supportive of those who are interested in the horses they have taken so much time, pride, and a passion to breed within the KWPN (the Dutch governing body for breeding). This is a strict breeding criteria for which they regulate breeding stock to breed and licence. Everyone should be so excited and passionate about what they do as the Dutch are about what they believe in!
